A cross-language Zoom call usually means one side struggling in a second language, a chat box full of half-translated phrases, or a separate interpreter dialed in. Real-time translation removes that friction: each person speaks their own language and hears the other in theirs, while the meeting runs exactly as usual.
Here is how to translate a Zoom meeting in real time with Retalk — no meeting bot, no Zoom plugin, and nothing for the other side to install.
Why not a meeting bot?
Most translation add-ons join your call as a visible participant that records the room. Retalk takes a different path: it installs as a virtual microphone and speaker on your Mac, so Zoom simply treats it as an audio device. There is no extra attendee in the gallery, no recording banner, and no integration to request from IT. See how no-bot translation works for the full picture.
Step 1 — Choose your language pair
Open Retalk and pick the language you speak and the language you want the other side to hear. Retalk supports 70+ languages through Google's Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, so most business language pairs are covered. Our pre-call checklist walks through it in under a minute.
Step 2 — Point Zoom at the Retalk devices
In Zoom, open Settings then Audio, and set your microphone and speaker to the Retalk virtual devices. Your translated voice is routed into the call through the Retalk microphone, and the other side's audio returns through the Retalk speaker to be translated for you.
Step 3 — Start the call and talk normally
Join the Zoom meeting the way you always do. Speak in your language; the other side hears you in theirs, and you hear them in yours. Translation runs in both directions on separate audio tracks, so each person gets a clean translation rather than a blended mix.
What it actually sounds like
Because Retalk uses speech-to-speech translation, the output preserves the speaker's tone, pace, and pitch instead of a flat robotic voice, and it streams with sub-second latency so the conversation stays in sync. Live captions follow along on screen for names, numbers, and domain terms.
Your transcripts stay yours
Transcripts stay on the desktop app. The web dashboard holds billing metadata and recent calls — not your conversation audio or text.
